Sean Hanlon, CFP®
Chairman, CEO and Chief Investment Officer

Sean Hanlon, CFP® founded Hanlon Investment Management (HIM) in 1999 and is Chairman, CEO and Chief Investment Officer.  Sean is the developer of the portfolio management techniques that are used to manage approximately $3.3 billion of assets under management at HIM today. These techniques are best described as a combination of Intermediate-Term Trend Following and Modern Portfolio Theory.

Sean is a member of the Forbes Investment Team, periodically publishing articles on www.Forbes.com, and a member of the Advisory Board of Pershing, a Bank of New York subsidiary company. Sean previously served on the Advisory Board of SunAmerica.

Sean’s philanthropic activities include serving on the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology, where he is a member of both the Investment and Finance Committees. Sean is also Chairman of the Board of Advisors to the Sean Hanlon Financial Systems Laboratory at Stevens, where undergraduate level Quantitative Finance and graduate level Financial Engineering Programs are taught, educating tomorrow’s financial service industry leaders. Sean is a past Chairman of both the Linwood Education Foundation and the Seabrook House Foundation, which are philanthropic organizations located in Southern New Jersey. Sean earned a Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Stevens in 1980 and also earned the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation in 1997.


Nathan Berk
Chief Information Officer

Nathan Berk joined Hanlon Investment Management in 2010 as the Chief Information Officer. In his role he is responsible for formulating the strategic information technology goals and plans for the company and leading their implementation through the direct management of the technical teams. He is also responsible for developing the overall corporate IT budget of the company and ensuring the budget is met. Prior to joining Hanlon Nathan held the role of Vice President of Sales and Marketing and General Manager of Omicron Consulting, LLC. At Omicron Nathan focused on managing the daily operations of Omicron, set the firm’s overall strategic direction and managed Omicron’s sales and marketing teams. Nathan began his career in technology almost 20 years ago as an Engineer for Atlantic Electric. Nathan obtained a BS in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University in 1992 and received a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) from Rutgers in 2001 where he graduated with Honors. Nathan is married to Kim and has three children, Nathan, Abigail and Jonathan.


Dierdre A. Downham
Chief Administrative Officer

Dierdre Downham began her career with Hanlon Investment Management in 2002. As the Chief Administrative Officer at Hanlon, Dierdre provides oversight and direction related to administrative functions, health, safety and environment, and human resources. She supervises the office staff and works collaboratively as a member of the senior management team. She also provides assistance to the company’s operational functions and supports Sean Hanlon, Chairman, CEO and Chief Investment Officer of Hanlon Investment in the strategic development of the firm. Prior to joining Hanlon, Dierdre worked for eight years for Prudential Securities. Dierdre earned a Bachelors degree in Marketing from Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. She is married to Peter and has two children, Peter and Brittany.


Thomas Ericson
Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel

Thomas J. Ericson joined Hanlon Investment Management as Chief Compliance Officer and General Counsel in February 2010. Prior to joining Hanlon Investment Management, Inc., Tom served as the Chief Legal Officer and Compliance Officer for several different Broker Dealers and Investment Advisors. He is a frequent lecturer to producer groups and national associations on compliance related matters. Tom has passed the Pennsylvania Bar exam and Life and Health Agent examinations. He is a graduate of Mercyhurst College with a BA in Accounting and from the Penn State Dickinson School of Law with a JD degree.


David Powell
Chief Technology Officer

David Powell joined Hanlon Investment Management in 2003, and as the Chief Technology Officer, he is responsible for maintaining the current technology infrastructure of the firm and providing vision to address future technological needs. Prior to joining Hanlon, David worked for Comar, Inc., a large glassware and plastic manufacturer, as a UNIX programmer and as Manager of Technology Resources. In that role, David delivered a Microsoft/Unix ERP solution in a 0% downtime environment. David earned a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science with minors in mathematics and psychology from Trenton State College. David enjoys coaching children’s sports teams. He is married to Melissa and has two sons, Drew and Hunter.


Matthew Andress
Director of Operations

Matthew Andress has been with Hanlon Investment Management since 2004 and is involved in managing all areas of operation for the firm. Matt has over fifteen years of experience in the mutual fund and brokerage industry. Prior to joining Hanlon, Matt worked for The Vanguard Group and PFPC. Matt attended Delaware County Community College and West Chester University in Pennsylvania. He enjoys the arts, boating, and going to the beach. He is the father of a daughter, Kayla, and two sons, Sean and Ryan.


Heather Goodwin
Client Services Manager

Heather Goodwin currently serves as the Client Services Manager.  Upon joining Hanlon Investment Management in May of 2006, Heather began as a Client Services Associate.  Prior to her arrival at Hanlon, Heather worked for four years as a Branch Office Administrator for Edward Jones and Company. Heather graduated Cum Laude from Messiah College in Grantham, Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science in Biology/Education. Outside of work Heather enjoys spending time with her daughter Gabriella and husband Anthony.


Marlene Kneisel
Administrative Services Manager

Marlene Kneisel joined Hanlon Investment Management in 2005. In her current role as Administrative Services Manager, Marlene supervises the operation of supportive services for the company. Prior to working at Hanlon, Marlene was an Account Supervisor at an advertising agency where she managed various casino accounts in New Jersey, Indiana, Mississippi and Canada. Marlene earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Administration from Trenton State College. She is married to Don and has three children, Kelsea, Donnie and Derek.


Don Williams II
Director of Trading

Don Williams joined Hanlon Investment Management in 2004 and oversees all operations pertaining to trades for the firm, as well as is involved in Portfolio Management. Don worked for Montauk Financial Group prior to joining Hanlon. Don earned a Bachelors degree in Economics from Rutgers College, Rutgers University. Don enjoys all outdoor activities, especially golfing and mountain biking.
